See What Famous Works of Art Would Look Like if They Were Gluten Free

Lady And The Tramp
Everett

We’ve long been a carb-conscious culture.

The bread-loathing diet may restrictive, but it’s certainly gaining traction. However, it’s a diet that any bread (or cake or cookie) lover often finds ridiculous. And a new Tumblr, the Gluten Free Museum, found the perfect way to channel these thoughts into subtle commentary — with a little help from Photoshop.

Fittingly created by an anonymous French blogger, as no one loves gluten-filled products like croissants, pastries, and of course, bread, quite like the French do, Gluten Free Museum showcases famous works of art (and pop culture), sans any gluten components. The result: A stream of hilarious photos that feel as if they’re missing something pivotal.

In the”museum’s exhibition”, “visitors” can peruse pictures sans gluten, like Pablo Picasso missing his “bread fingers” in Robert Doisneau’s iconic photograph.

They also tackle advertisements, like this vintage Guinness ad featuring an empty glass.

Pop culture moments get the gluten-free treatment too. Here, the two Lady And The Tramp pups look decidedly less romantic a plate of spaghetti to share.

What’s Chief Wiggum (of The Simpsons) to do without a donut to dunk in his morning coffee?

And of course, there’s the art. Here, a man lies in a grassy field, rather than one filled with wheat, in a painting from Vincent van Gogh’s What Field series.

And Jeff Koons’s Cake looks a lot less appetizing with only the frosting (although frosting on its own it still worth eating).

If the thought of giving up cakes, cookies, and freshly baked baguettes didn’t have you swearing off gluten free forever, these photos just may do the trick.

What a sweet way to spend the afternoon!

Justin Bieber stopped into Duff’s Cakesmix in L.A. with pals Kendall Jenner, Hailey Baldwin and his six-year-old sister, Jazmyn, on Thursday afternoon.

“They were really friendly with the staff,” a source tells PEOPLE of the group, who stopped in around noon and ordered the decorating dessert studio’s signature do-it-yourself cake kit.

“They were all helping Justin’s little sister make a girl minion cake,” the source says, referring to the Despicable Me character. “They were all nibbling cupcakes while they were decorating. It was really cute and really sweet.”

As for rumors that Justin and Kendall are dating? Well, it didn’t appear that way on this outing. “They weren’t lovey or anything,” says the source. “It just looked like a day out with friends. It seemed like he was just with all his girls having a fun afternoon.”

And that’s not all the fun the had – the foursome also made a stop at IHOP earlier in the day.

Olympic ice dancers Charlie White and Tanith Belbin were married on Saturday surrounded by greenery at the Planterra Conservatory in Michigan, so it’s no surprise the couple’s wedding cake had the same elegant, natural touch.

For their big day, White and Belbin—who got engaged during a vacation in Hawaii last year—opted for a four-layer vanilla cake with raspberry curd and vanilla buttercream decorated with fresh flowers from Sweet Heather Anne bakery in Ann Arbor.

“It was clear that they had a very refined taste but simple and classic,” cake designer Claudia Kimble tells PEOPLE exclusively. “A lot of times clients come with specific cakes they want designed but that particular one, we kind of proposed to them and they loved it.”

Kimble decided to hand paint the cake’s crimped edge with edible gold and elevate the cake on a metal lift for a modern twist.

“They liked the softness of using blush fresh flowers and the added touch of mixed metals,” she says.

And when the bakery’s owner, Heather Anne Leavitt, delivered the dessert at the event filled with 130 of the couple’s friends and family members, it was “very well received,” she says.

“So many family members were taking photos of the cake, which was great,” says Leavitt. “And Tanith wrote us this really nice email the next day and told us how much she loved it. They’re just a very sweet couple.”

Purple was the reigning color at musician Ann Wilson‘s wedding — right down to the cake.

The Heart frontwoman — who married Dean Wetter in Topanga, California on Saturday, April 25th — choose a beautiful berry-filled wedding cake from Sweet Lady Jane that perfectly complimented her lavender dress and decor.

And although she choose the Santa Monica bakery’s most popular flavor triple-berry for her dessert, Wilson wanted to make sure it had a personal touch.

“We were sent a copy of a cake picture from our website. She wanted something like it,” Sweet Lady Jane’s owner Jane Lockhart tells PEOPLE. “The cake had roses but she wanted  purple flowers to go with her irises and lilacs, in that [purple] family.”

The three-tiered cake — a yellow butter sponge cake made with European buttercream and filled with fresh strawberries, raspberries and blackberries — was “very small because she only had 40 people,” says Lockhart.

But it still made a big statement — including a last minute addition.

“Originally the cake was just supposed to have buttercream flowers, but when it was delivered, I believe the bride wanted cascading fresh flowers added. She had extra flowers at the venue so we just did it onsite and it came out beautiful,” says Lockhart. “I heard she was thrilled!”

Reese Witherspoon Officially Launches Her Lifestyle Site Draper James — Take a Tour!

Reese Witherspoon‘s new lifestyle site launched Tuesday afternoon and, to put it lightly, we’re already obsessed.

Draper James — which is a combination of her grandparents’ names — is a shopping website specifically focused on “Southern style,” as the site describes, offering up everything from home and gifts to jewelry and clothes.

Instagram Photo

“My grandparents taught me everything I know about gracious Southern living,” she writes. “From them I learned to dress and act like a lady, to take pride in my home, to reach out to help a neighbor, and to always invite everyone in for a visit.”

The site also includes an editorial section, which will feature interviews with Southern chefs, writers, musicians and other artisans. As of now, Witherspoon is the only featured Southerner on the site — the interview (called Draper James’ “Seven Questions”) details her personal opinions on all things Southern and style. (It’s always sweet tea over regular tea for her—obvi!)

“Draper James is all about the grace and charm I was raised with in Nashville, Tennessee. In the South you can never be too kind, too gracious or too well dressed,” Witherspoon said in a video posted on the site.

Instagram Photo

The site also launched with a ladies’ luncheon for Witherspoon and her team with a menu full of Southern classics — lettuce and sweet peas in Green Goddess dressing, deviled eggs, and chicken salad on biscuits — which guests tucked into on a long, wooden table covered with a white linen tablecloth and a few mason jars filled with cut lilacs.

Oh, and don’t forget about dessert! Witherspoon served up her grandmother Dorothea Draper’s (she is the Draper in Draper James) Coconut Layer Cake.

One of the guests in attendance for the luncheon was Molly Sims, who posted a cute group shot (spring sundresses galore!) on her Instagram Tuesday. “So proud to be one of the first Southern ambassadors for my good friend, @ReeseWitherspoon’s new fashion brand, #DraperJames!” she wrote.

Witherspoon is the latest leading lady to launch a new lifestyle brand, joining the ranks of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop, Blake Lively’s Preserve and, most recently, Julianne Hough’s site.

When Heather Morris married her longtime love Taylor Hubbell on May 16th at the Old Canyon Ranch in Topanga, California, she choose an unconventional cake to compliment her rustic, outdoor reception.

Instead of a typical tiered dessert, the Glee actress opted for four separate mini cakes, which were propped on top of small crates and tree stump bases.

Heather Morris
Amy & Jordan Photography/Startraks

“They were [part of] four tiers and if you stacked them, it would look like just a normal [wedding] cake,” the couple’s wedding planner Cari Izaguirre, owner of All Occasions Event Planning, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “But Heather’s thought was, since she wanted to go with that rustic style, that doing a tiered cake didn’t really fit [the aesthetic]. Plus she wanted to use different flavors so that way her guests could choose because a lot of times with a tiered cake, people don’t really know what flavors are what.”

Making it even easier, elegant little signs displayed the three flavors, which included a white cake with chocolate mousse and raspberry puree, a white cake with strawberries and french whipped cream and the two chocolate cakes with chocolate mousse.

After a tasting with the Bread Basket Cake Company, the Camarillo, California bakery that baked the cakes, the couple was thrilled with their choices.

“The groom loved all of the flavors but Heather’s favorite was the white cake with chocolate mousse and raspberry puree,” says Izaguirre. “At the wedding, after we cut it, she was like ‘can you please bring me a big piece of that?’ She was excited. It was really cute.”

As for the cake accents: “Heather’s not a frilly, ballgown-type of girl. She’s more natural and down-to-earth so I think their cake represented that really well by just having it on the crates with just simple white garden roses.”

Although the couple even managed to incorporate their wedding colors and decor into the cake. To “tie it into” the burlap runners that were placed on each wood table, a strip of burlap and blue-green ribbon was placed at the base of each cake.

And for the guest who wanted to further satisfy their sweet tooth, there was a candy buffet full of the newlyweds’ favorite candies such as chocolate covered pretzels, zebra popcorn with chocolate, blue M&Ms, blue sour ropes and sour patch kids, “which matched their wedding colors,” says Izaguirre.

The dessert bar also included a picture of Morris and Hubbell with their 1 year-old son, Elijah.

Mean Girls‘ Jonathan Bennett Describes His Bizarre Dream Cake: ‘Macaroni and Cheese, Cornbread, Buffalo Sauce’

Jonathan Bennett
Michael Stewart/Getty

Jonathan Bennett, the actor best known for his work as dreamy Aaron Samuels in Mean Girls, is a lot like us—he’s staunchly pro-dessert.

“I like cake. Who doesn’t like cake? Cake is delicious,” the actor tells PEOPLE, succinctly summing up our life philosophy. So Bennett’s new cake-centric gig as the host of Cake Wars, which premieres June 29 on Food Network, is a dream job.

While fulfilling his hosting duties, Bennett has had to the opportunity to taste cakes flavored with bizarre, savory ingredients like wasabi, sriracha and bratwurst.

“Those were three of the most delicious cakes I’ve ever tasted,” he says. (And now we’re craving sausage cake. Thanks for that, Bennett.)

So what’s the actor’s dream cake? Turns out it’s not one filled with rainbows and smiles, as outlined by the sad teen in Mean Girls who just wants everyone to be happy. No, Bennett’s fantasy cake is far stranger—and sounds much tastier than smiles.

“It’s cornbread cake, and then you layer it with macaroni and cheese and then you drizzle it with buffalo sauce,” he says.

While Bennett hosting Cake Wars and obsessing over cake has occupied a significant amount of his time, Bennett is still busy acting, starring in the last season of MTV’s Awkward and an upcoming film with Alyson Hannigan called Modern Love.

Of course, Mean Girls remains a very real part of his life.

“Today alone, six fans have told me my hair looks sexy pushed back,” he says. “And the reason fans say that to me every day is because they love the movie. I’m glad to hear it.”

Frozen Cake Fail Renders Elsa Unrecognizable (PHOTO)

Elsa from Frozen

At least cake tastes delicious no matter what it looks like.

That is the only consolation we can muster for the tragic cake posted by Reddit user OfficialBigHead, which was meant to resemble Frozen‘s Queen Elsa but instead looked like a misshapen, disillusioned alien woman with carelessly drawn-on eyebrows and a cheap spray tan.

The cake was clearly supposed to look like the Elsa pictured on McGreevy Cakes, a cake-decorating website that offers step-by-step tutorials, yet the end result fell quite a bit short.

“The cake that was ordered and the cake that arrived,” is all the Reddit post reads, which has already accumulated over 2,206 comments. Reddit user ViciousPuddin noted: “The sad thing is, as horrific as it looks, someone put serious time into making that cake. Every misshapen blob, every terrifying curve and flourish. There are hours and hours of terrible craftsmanship here.”

We only pray that this cake wasn’t immediately disposed of. We believe that all cake should be eaten, regardless of how disturbing it looks.

The Touching Story Behind the Viral Frozen Cake Fail

Elsa from Frozen
Walt Disney Pictures/Everett

Well, we feel awful.

Last week, we wrote about a “cake fail” posted on Reddit someone had ordered a Queen Elsa cake but received, instead, a cake resembling a very different woman, to put it kindly. The photo of the cake quickly went viral, yet a vital part of the story was missing.

Turns out, Fox reports, the confection was made by a charity, Icing Smiles, that bakes cakes for sick children.

Icing Smiles took to Facebook to set the record straight about the cake:

“My heart broke for the baker because I know how much of herself she puts into her donations. My heart broke for the family should they come across the posts because it may take from their joy of receiving the gift. It broke for our team whose extraordinary efforts were used in this way. Our Sugar Angel wasn’t commissioned to copy Shawna’s work, she was asked for a Frozen cake for a sick child and she did just that.”

Lisa Randolph, the woman who made the cake for a very sick girl, also took to social media to tell her side of the story, acknowledging she knows the cake “looked like a HOT MESS.” She wrote:

“here is the back story …I had just lost my grandmother I had been with my Mom all day comforting her ,I came back to work on the cake I HAD 2 hours to get it done and delivered ,I was so upset I remember asking for prayer on Facebook to get it done. As I leave to deliver the cake it started raining cat’s and dog’s as I was taking the cake out of the truck the top of the box blows back and the cake get soaking wet . So the photo that was posted was after I had wiped her face with a paper towel . Yes I’ve seen all the really mean comments ,some even posted by some of my so-called cake friends that know it’s my cake . At the end of the day ,I DIDN’T let that sick baby down l gave it all I had to give ,so make fun all me all you guy’s want if that is what you need to do to feel good about yourself.”

When it came to Florida Georgia Line‘s Tyler Hubbard and Hayley Stommel‘s wedding cake, simple said it best.

The couple, who were married at Trail Creek Cabin in Sun Valley, Idaho, on July 1, stuck to a neutral color palette (the groom even wore white!) in order to complement the picturesque, lush outdoor setting — and the cake was no exception.

“[Hayley] wanted something really simple and she wanted it tall,” Cristina Ceccatelli Cook, owner of Cristina’s Restaurant, tells PEOPLE exclusively of the cake she created for the reception. “Sun Valley has beautiful, natural scenery. You don’t need to dress it up too much, and I think that’s what they tried to do, to keep that natural look.”

The result? A beautiful, four-tiered European almond cake — “that had the consistency of a pound cake but was very moist,” says Cook — made with alternating thin layers of mascarpone and homemade raspberry jam and then covered in Italian white butter cream frosting. And as a nod to the gorgeous greenery, the florist placed a small flower arrangement in between the second and third tiers.

The bakery, which is located in nearby Ketchum, Idaho, also held a special memories for the Idaho-bred Stommel. “I know the parents of the bride and the bride because they come here for lunch when they are in Ketchum,” says Cook. “They’ve been customers for many years.”

The elegant dress, the Egyptian-themed décor, the stuffed banana peppers and fried fish dinner—there was plenty to admire at Vanessa Williams and Jim Skrip’s July 4 wedding, including the couple’s stunning wedding cake.

The couple enlisted David Muscoreil and his team at Muscoreil’s Fine Desserts in Buffalo, New York, to create a cake fit for their lavish affair.

“She was very much into the gold, so we suggested pulling in different types of gold and different types of textures,” Muscoreil tells PEOPLE exclusively. “That’s how we pulled together the design.”

Muscoreil, along with three decorators, collaborated on the four-tier cake, 12 dozen gold crowned cupcakes and individually piped cookie hearts for the reception. The custom desserts, Muscoreil reveals, took about 15 hours to make.

While the cupcakes were a traditional vanilla flavor, the wedding cake proved to be more complex, calling for double dark chocolate with a layer of ganache, chocolate chantilly cream and fresh strawberries. It was topped with white fondant and decorated with different gold hues, accent shapes and textures—all of which were reminiscent of the bride’s gown (made with ivory organza and gold leather petals) and overall wedding theme.

“It was a total honor and a blessing that she chose our phenomenal staff [to make her wedding cake],” says Muscoreil. “We appreciate that tremendously.”

From their vows to her wedding dress, almost every aspect of Kim Coles and Reggie Mckiver‘s wedding was customized — even their cake!

“The adorable edible butterflies were from Etsy,” the former Living Single star, 53, tells PEOPLE of multi-colored confections that adorned the cake at her June 17 wedding to McKiver, 41, at the Paradisus Palma Real in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Made by the in-house bakers at the wedding venue, the two-tiered cake included a strawberry-filled vanilla layer on top and a chocolate layer on the bottom.

“Chocolate cake is our favorite, but we wanted everyone to be happy” explains Coles, who invited just 25 people — including her baby brother and McKiver’s seven sisters (five of whom were able to attend) — to their ceremony on the beach.

Though Coles says their intimate wedding was “lovely,” she admits there was one downside to the festivities’ picturesque setting: “We had to cut the cake before the butterflies melted in the tropical humidity!”

Taylor Swift fans, grab a fork! The pop star’s songs are taking on a form of a different kind—and no, we’re not talking the singer’s recent merger with Apple Music.

Well, because it is cake.

Lindsay Nathanson, the blogger and baker extraordinaire behind the dessert destination Sprinkles for Breakfast, created a handful of cakes to pay tribute to Swift and her 1989 album.

“A couple of months ago I found myself in a little bit of a design rut,” Nathanson tells PEOPLE. “I felt like I was doing the same thing over and over again, and I wanted to try something new.”

The blogger turned to music for inspiration. “When I turned on the 1989 album to start brainstorming, the idea just presented itself,” she says.

A Twinkie’s endurance is the stuff of legend. (And in this case, we’re not referring to the popular belief that a Twinkie’s shelf life is longer than all of Taylor Swift’s relationships combined.)

After 82 years of making people happy, corporate turmoil almost led to the end of America’s iconic snack cake in 2012. Thankfully, after a swell of public protest the company and its cream-filled treats were spared and the country rejoiced.

To commemorate what they’re calling the “Sweetest Comeback in the History of Ever,” Hostess has unveiled a brand new 85th anniversary edition of The Twinkies Cookbook. With 50 recipes submitted by chefs and mega-fans alike, the book is packed with quirky and imaginative creations. Bet you didn’t know you could turn a humble Twinkie into fancy petits fours or a salad. (A salad!) We were just as surprised as you.

It’s a common style rule to have your shoes complement your outfit—but a birthday cake? Well, that’s something new for us.

Flawlessly executed by Jennifer Lopez on her 46th (!) birthday, the singer’s cropped bustier and matching pencil skirt combo from MILLY was perfectly accented by Lopez’s custom-designed cake. Inspired by the fashion line’s “scribble print” design, the cake echoed the birthday girl’s outfit, which Lopez donned on her big birthday bash this weekend.

RELATED: The Best Celebrity Birthday Cakes for Kim Kardashian, Sofia Vergara & More

But that’s not all. Lopez was presented with another four-tier cake at a second party in South Hampton, New York, an obvious take on the collection’s class design: the “feather print,” which is a kaleidoscope of varying colors as well as a string of diamonds that surrounded each layer of the cake (natch).

Of course, Lopez always goes big. Last year, the star called for a life-size confection of herself riding a lion. It was a fitting design for JLo, whose astrological sign is Leo. The cake, unbelievably enough, was made in two days. “Apparently [Lopez] said it was delicious!” says Samantha Brooks, who made the cake. “She loved it.”

If looks are any indication of taste, then we’re betting Lopez’s show stopping desserts were definitely in the same ranks as last year’s masterpiece.

If this is how JLo rings in her 46th birthday, we can only imagine how the big 5-0 will be. Five cakes, perhaps?

He may not have known that ranunculus were in the bouquets or the particulars of the seating chart, but Little People, Big World star Zach Roloff took the lead when it came to choosing his wedding cake with bride Tori.

The pair called on baker Carrie Ann Schubert of the Beaverton Bakery in Beaverton, Oregon, to create their 4-tiered poppyseed cake with fresh raspberry filling and chocolate ganache. It was a unique dessert, Schubert tells PEOPLE, that the groom was most excited about.

“We’ve made poppyseed cake for years,” says Schubert of her family’s 90-year-old local bakery. “We normally put lemon cream cheese filling in it, but they wanted to try this unique flavoring, so we did that for them. It turned out really nice.”

Schubert, who’s baked for Roloff family events many times before, says the couple were going for “a rustic kind of look” to match their country-chic theme and farm venue. “The cake sat on a piece of wood, and we used a country-looking spiral technique with the French butter cream icing. It was really simple. Anything too fancy going out to the farm just doesn’t look right.”

As for who took charge at the tasting, “I really think it was Zach,” says Schubert. “He’s had our cakes before with his mom and as I was sitting with them, Zach was right out front letting everybody know what he wanted.”

For the poppyseed cake, “our secret ingredient is cooking sherry,” reveals Schubert. For the filling she made a jam from scratch using fresh frozen raspberries from Oregon. Then came the chocolate element: “We use Darigold whipping cream,” says Schubert. “That’s what makes our ganache just melt in your mouth.”

The couple and their nearly 200 guests couldn’t agree more. “I got a note from Tori,” says Schubert. “Everything tasted and turned out fantastic!”

There are two kinds of people in this world: People who expect a cake for their birthday, and people who bake their own cake for their birthday.

The ever adorable Karlie Kloss has officially confirmed she belongs to the latter group. On Monday, the supermodel (and devout Taylor Swift squad member) posted a cute 15-second video teaser on Instagram of herself whipping up a Funfetti birthday cake, then the full video on her Klossy YouTube channel later in the afternoon.

“Today’s my birthday! I’m turning 23, so I thought to celebrate, I’d bake a cake,” Kloss says at the beginning of her video, during which she goes through the cake-making process and reveals 23 things she’s learned in her 23 years of life.

“If you have free time, Facetime your family,” Kloss says, launching into her most vital life lessons. Some other gems: “Hard work pays off.” “Not everyone’s going to like you.” “Blondes seem to have more fun.” “Coffee is a gift from the heavens.”

Our favorite piece of wisdom? “Take time for yourself, but if you take too much time for yourself, and you’re late, make sure you have baked goods.” (It’s true. Baked goods heal all wounds.)

While Kloss prepares her cake from a package mix, we’re not snobs here Funfetti is the best. Plus, Kloss has already displayed her culinary prowess time and time again, whipping up avocado flatbreads (get the recipe here!) and gourmet cookies like it’s no big deal.

Happy birthday, Karlie! (We’ve already forgiven you for not inviting us to eat the cake with you.)

As if a Muppet-esque wedding cake weren’t adorable enough, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Therouxs back story is the icing on the cake.

Aniston, 46, and Theroux, 43, tied the knot in a secret ceremony at their Bel Air, California, home on Wednesday, subsequently sending the Internet into a flurry of excitement.

One of the cutest details from the intimate ceremony? The couple’s playful wedding cake – made by Duff Goldman of Charm City Cakes – which was topped with a man and woman Muppet-like puppets (with total Avenue Q vibes) portraying the bride and groom. (The woman character is rocking what appears to be a white veil, though no word yet on what Aniston wore to the affair. We do have some ideas…)

The bakers “had no idea it was for a wedding,” a source tells PEOPLE. “They didn’t know until they saw the pictures this morning.”

According to a second source, the cake was vanilla and strawberry. “Jen and Justin are freezing a piece for their anniversary next year!” added the source.

In 2011, Aniston told PEOPLE about her love for the Muppets when asked about rumors that she’d secretly adopted a baby.

“Not adopting. There’s no nursery. Those are the two smallest things that exist [she points to two Muppets on a chair in her living room], my Muppets. Those are my Muppets,” she said.

“Will Speck, who was the director of The Switch, we went to FAO Schwartz, and we made Muppets of each other. That was the closest that I could get it looking like me, and that was the closest he could get it looking like him. They are the most fun, they’ve come with me on vacations. My girlfriends, we do photo shoots with them, it’s very silly. They’ve been to Cabo so far.”

We think it’s pretty sweet that Aniston has officially inducted Theroux into her Muppets obsession — in edible form, no less.

To keep the wedding a secret, the couple told friends that the party was for Theroux’s birthday. The ensuing festivities and a cake with two, not just one, very happy puppets erased any doubt this was merely a birthday party.
