Our new lifestyle blogger Camila Alves shares the story behind the healthy (but adorably kid-friendly!) birthday cake she made and decorated for her youngest son Livingston‘s 2nd birthday.
We celebrated Livingston’s birthday over the holidays with the whole family and a classic cake. But on his actual birthday, I wanted to make something healthier since the kids had plenty of treats over the holidays. That’s the time they get to have free days or special occasion days as I like to call them!

I still wanted to celebrate and sing happy birthday on his birthday, so I decided to make a healthy, fruit-inspired cake. I believe finding the balance is key.
Livingston loves tractors more than anything, so I made one out of pineapple, kiwi, apple and carrots. For the grass, I used shaved apples tinted with green food coloring. The dirt behind the tractor – raisins, which are his favorite, and then I added berries around the edges. We added a candle and that was it!
It was a big hit all around and it only took me about 20 minutes to make. Nice, simple, and tasty! The kids had so much fun!
